Yeong Chung

Mr. Yeong Chung, 81, entered into rest at 11:04 PM on Tuesday evening, January 26, 2021 at Doctors Hospital in Augusta Georgia.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Westover Memorial Park with the Rev. Yong Sung Lee officiating.

Yeong Chung was born on June 9, 1939 in Seoul, South Korea. He came to Augusta in November of 1978 and opened Yeong’s Pantry on Belair Road. He retired in 1999, and passed the business to his son, Yun Sup Chung. A past senior president of the Korean Association of Augusta, he loved sushi and hanging with friends. Most importantly, he loved his family and will be remembered as a great father and grandfather.

He is survived by two daughters, Yun Mee Sands and her husband, Edward A. Sands, Diana Cho and her husband, Pyong Han Cho, his grandchildren Josh Corey, Katherine Landrum, Aaron Chung, Brian Chung, Nathan Cho, Alex Chung, Joshua J Sands and Jacob M Sands, and his great grandchildren, Payton, Corey and Dawson Landrum, and a daughter in law, Son Bin Chung.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ok Ran Chung and his son, Yun Sup Chung.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 on Friday evening, January 29, 2021 at the funeral home.
