Augusta, GA – Mr. William Vanderbilt Walton, 92, husband of the late Mrs. Elizabeth Francis Walton and late first wife Mrs. Mildred Huffman Walton, entered into rest on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at University Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Platt’s Crawford Ave Chapel at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Dr. J. Andrew Menger officiating. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park with Military Honors.

Survivors include three daughters, Mary Anna Walton Jones (Johnny), Madeline Carrol Walton West, Georgia Maryland Walton Timmerman; one brother, Julian Walton; twelve grandchildren, Rabeth Timmerman Walker (Frank), Charles Matthew West, William Nathaniel West, Christopher Tyrus West, Randall Edwin Johnson, Wendell Franklin Johnson, Jeremy Hoffman, Angela Louise Jones, Cecelia Jones Clark (Joe), Teresa Jones Martin (Ritchie), Annesia Jones, Lathelia Jones Ledford; sixteen great grandchildren; numerous great great grandchildren; a special nephew, Wendell Lee Bevils Horn; and a special sister in law, Joan Pharr.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, the late Mrs. Miriam Louise Walton Hoffman; one brother, the late Mr. Alonzo Walton; and sister, the late Mrs. Mary Walton Lawrence.

Mr. Walton served in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre Germany during World War II. He worked at Clausen Bakery, Augusta Lumber Company, Ross Building Supply and retired from Pratt Dudley as a Master Carpenter.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 13, 2013 at the funeral home from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
