Mr. W. “Randy” McFerrin
Augusta, GA – Mr. William Randolph “Randy” McFerrin, 54, beloved husband of Mrs. Nancy Barefield McFerrin entered into rest on Monday, March 21, 2011 at University Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel with the Rev. Joel Conner officiating. Interment to follow in Westview Cemetery.
Randy was a lifelong member of National Hills Baptist Church where he was a member of the choir and the hospitality committee. He was a member of the Local 150 Plumbers and Steamfitters. Randy was a graduate of Westside High School. He was a master archer and also an expert roller-skater. Randy will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
In addition to his wife, Mr. McFerrin is survived by his two sons, William Randolph McFerrin, II of North Augusta, and Timothy Andrew McFerrin (fiancé Stephanie Pierce) of Aiken; his mother, Martha Green of Augusta; his sisters, Marsha Reese (Jimmy) of Mitchell, GA and Kathryn Bell (Roger) of Edgefield, SC; his stepson, Jeffery Rollins (fiancé Renee Williams) of Martinez; his granddaughter, Paige Rollins; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Randy was preceded in death by his father, Willie P. McFerrin; his daddy, Edward Green; and by his brother, Leslie Andrew Green.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Huffman, Mike Brocato, Tom Shook, Frank Vaughn, Charles Hardigree, Richard Johnson, and Steve Huffman. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Local 150 Plumbers and Steamfitters.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. Michael Schlaer and the staff of Medical Oncology Associates of Augusta and also the nurses and staff of 10 West at University Hospital
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, March 23, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
