William Iverson Barksdale, Iii

Augusta, GA – Mr. William Iverson Barksdale, III, 69, of Augusta entered into rest on Thursday May 21, 2009 after a long illness.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at St. James United Methodist Church
At 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Linda Birchall officiating. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park.

Mr. Barksdale was the son of the late William I. Barksdale, Jr. and Mittie “Lee” Barksdale of Augusta.

Bill is survived by his wife of 39 years, Ann Marie Bonnett Barksdale; his daughter, Connie Barksdale Miller ( Carey) of North Augusta, SC; three sons, Will Barksdale IV (Deanie) of Martinez, GA Joey Barksdale (Allison) of Evans, GA, and John Barksdale, Augusta, GA ; also five grandchildren, Beth Barksdale, Kay Barksdale, Will Barksdale V, Joseph Barksdale, Jr., and Caroline Barksdale; and his brother Ronald Stanford Barksdale of Statesboro, GA.

He retired as a loan officer with Star Loan Co. after forty two years of service in the loan business. He was a 1958 graduate of the Academy of Richmond County, he attended Augusta Junior College.
Mr. Barksdale was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army . He was a member of Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church, and has attended St James United Church for the past twenty eight years and a past member of the Augusta Country Club and the Westside High School Athletic Booster Club.

Pallbearers will be, Jerry Armstrong, Guy McCloud, Randy Butler, Doug Coleman, Tim Shields, Jim Felton, William Lanier and Randy Strozier.

Honorary pallbearers will be, Gene Cashin, Lamar Tabb, and Howard Tabb

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, May 22, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
