Augusta, GA – Mr. W. Lewis “Poppy” Youngblood, 87, went home to be with the Lord, on May 5, 2010, at Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home.

Graveside services and interment will be held at West View Cemetery, tomorrow Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 3:00 PM, Reverend William F. Harrell of Abilene Baptist Church where Mr. Youngblood was a member will officiate.

Lewis began his Christian church life at Crawford Avenue Baptist Church where he was a deacon and RA Leader for 17 years.

Survivors include, his loving wife 64 years, Elizabeth Smith Youngblood, two sons Rodney F. Youngblood, Sr. (wife Eleanor) Marietta, GA, G. Keith Youngblood (wife, Marina) Martinez, GA, a daughter, Teresa Y. Borum (husband, Jim) Grovetown, GA; grandchildren, Rodney Youngblood, Jr., Sam Youngblood, Amy Youngblood, Jeremy Youngblood, Chase Youngblood, Michelle Phillips, Meagan Borum and Jessica Borum. Great-grandchildren: Ayden Youngblood, Alexander and Molly Youngblood, Cole and Luke Phillips, a sister Carrie Bell Ledbetter, many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents Grady and Ruby Youngblood, a son Kenneth Youngblood, a grandson Joseph Robert Borum, his two brothers George and Luther Youngblood, two sisters, Mary Y. Nichols and Margaret Y. Bevill.

The family would like to thank the workers at Georgia War Veterans Home, who were genuinely kind to Mr. Youngblood during his stay there and a very special thank you to our three angels, Sandy Bagwell, Marilyn Johnson and Rose Eason who helped us make the end of his life better.

The family will receive friends, tomorrow Saturday, May 8, 2010 from 1:00 pm until 2:30 pm at Platt’s Crawford Avenue and then proceed to the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Rodney Youngblood, Jr., Sam Youngblood, Jeremy Youngblood, Chase Youngblood, Jim Borum and David Phillips.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Abilene Baptist Church Building Fund, 3917 Washington Road, Martinez, Georgia 30907 or the Alzheimer’s Association, 1899 Central Avenue, Augusta, Georgia 30904.
