Martinez, GA – Virginia Quick Blackburn, 88, entered into rest on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at her residence. She was a native of Burke County, GA and is the daughter of the late Norman and Lucille Quick.

She was preceded in death by her late husband of 57 years; Bruce E. Blackburn, her brother; Hubert Quick, sisters; Geneva Gray, Ophelia Mitchell, and Maurice Whitehead.

Mrs. Blackburn worked as a surgical nurse at MCG and retired from the St. Joseph’s Hospital. She also founded Blackburn Homebuilders. Mrs. Blackburn was a member of First Baptist Church of Augusta and will be remembered for her kind, generous spirit and her love for her children and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.

Mrs. Blackburn is survived by her children; Dwayne Bruce Blackburn (Nancy), Vicki Blackburn Grant (Louis), and Ernie N. Blackburn (Karen), grandchildren and great grandchildren; Elise McCall (William), Olivia, Caroline, Shelby of Evans, GA, Lynn Rumbley Dougherty (Michael), Virginia Lane, Thomas of Atlanta, GA, Collins Lee (PJ), Anna Kate, Emerson, of Martinez, GA, Adam Blackburn of Atlanta, GA, Whitney Quattlebaum (Matt), Carson of Evans, GA, Ryan Blackburn of Atlanta, GA, Barrett Blackburn and fiancé Shelby Storey of Charlotte, NC, loving brother; Leonard Quick, sisters; Maxine Moxley and Jean Bishop, along with many nieces and nephews.

The family expresses sincere appreciation to Mrs. Blackburn’s caregivers, Julie Damron, Emma Prior, Zalika Brown, Nicole Hopkins, Johnette Martin, and Eve Noriega. Special thanks to all the staff at Homestead Hospice for the compassionate care given to Mrs. Blackburn.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Augusta with Dr. Timothy L. Owings officiating. Burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park. The family will received friends one hour prior to the service in the rotunda.
