Virginia Jewel Peggy Thompson

d. February 5, 2010

Augusta, GA--- Mrs. Virginia Jewel “Peggy” Thompson went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 5, 2010 at University Hospital. A special place, in Heaven, was awaiting her arrival.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 pm, today Sunday, February 7, 2010 in the Platt's Crawford Avenue Chapel with Reverend Wayne Bruner officiating.

The family will receive friends, today Sunday, at the Funeral Home, from 2:00 pm until the time of services.

Graveside services and interment will be held at 11:00 am tomorrow Monday, February 8, 2010 at Westover Memorial Park. The family has asked that everyone meet at the graveside.

Peggy, as all of her loved ones and friends called her, was married to Felton Thompson, who passed away August 4, 2008, for 64 years. He too was standing at the gates, of Heaven, to take her hand.

Peggy was a "Jewel" to all of us on this earth. We were blessed to have her in our life. Her love for her family was unfathomable. She was never too busy to lend a helping hand, in her younger years and always listened to whatever you needed to tell to her.

She was a homemaker all of her life and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be missed more than words could ever express. Mrs. Thompson was a member of Crawford Avenue Baptist Church. Proverbs 31:10 describes her perfectly.

She was also preceded in death by her parents Ocie and Slim Vansant and her sister Jackie Conley.

She is survived her children, son, Donnie Thompson and Donna Gann, daughter, Linda Thompson Wylie, all of Augusta, grandchildren, Gregory L. Wylie, of Charlotte, NC, Seth T. Wylie, of Jacksonville, FL, Christina "Tina" Hawes and husband, Jason, of North Augusta, SC, D. Shane Thompson and wife Sarah, of North Augusta, SC, great grandchildren, Taylor Marie Hawes, Colby Jackson Hawes, sister in law, Dorothy Thompson Ray, nieces, Shirley Rafool and Anita Hess of Winter Haven, FL, and many other loving nieces and nephews. Our special thanks and love go to mother's caregiver Elizabeth Harmon.

Pallbearers will be Greg Wylie, Seth Wylie, Shane Thompson, Jason Hawes and Cobie Williams.

If so desired, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 1720 Epps Bridge Pkwy Suite 108-383, Athens, GA 30606.
