Vernon Ray Nixon

Evans, GA- Vernon Ray Nixon, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed from this world on December 16, 2010. He was at home with family at his side. Mr. Nixon was born on March 6, 1930 in Morris Chapel Tennessee. He retired from Uni-Royal in Mishawaka, Indiana. He was a residence of McNairy County TN. For 28 years before moving to Evans, GA. He is survived by his wife Josephine, 3 daughters, Dee Sanders and Vicky Spite of Evans, GA., and Connie Granning of South Bend Indiana. He has 5 grandsons and 11 great-grandchildren. Three sisters survive him; Sara Cunningham, of Morris Chapel, TN., Jo Wicker of Jonesboro, AR., and Brenda Hanna of Jackson, TN. Mr. Nixon was predeceased by his father and mother, Lester and Jocie Nixon, 2 brothers and 1 sister. He was a member of Bible Fellowship Church in Martinez, GA.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 PM on Sat. December 18, 2010 at Bible Fellowship Church, 3701 Old Petersburg Rd. with Pastor Randy Byrd officiating. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:30 AM until service time.
