Verna Bible Clark

d. October 6, 2009

Augusta, GA – Mrs. Verna Bible Clark, 86, the beloved wife of James C. Clark, entered into rest on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at University Hospital after several years of declining health.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Platt’s Funeral Home Belair Rd. chapel with Rev. Dewain French, and her grandson, Nathan A. Cash officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mrs. Clark was a native of Maryville, Tennessee and had lived in Wilmington, North Carolina, but most of her life was spent in Augusta. She was a wonderful homemaker having made her home a special place and was always there for her children and grandchildren. She was an excellent cook and will be missed greatly by her family. Over the years, she was a dedicated and faithful servant in her church and to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a member of the First Pentecostal Church. Paraphrasing a scripture from the book of Proverbs, she was a virtuous woman and her price was far above rubies.

Family members in addition to her husband include a son, Marion E. Clark of Hephzibah, GA; a daughter, Charlotte C. Cash of Evans, GA; one sister, Wanda B. Carstarphen and her husband Bob of Augusta, GA; three grandchildren, Robin Clark Faulkner and her husband Steve of Trenton, SC; Nathan A. Cash and wife Sherah of Hamilton, GA; Jennifer Clark Bellew of Hephzibah, GA; and eight great grandchildren, Shawn, Trever, Joseph, Summer, Caitlin, Abigail, Zane, and Bethany. Mrs. Clark was preceded in death by her father and mother, Marion P. Bible and Eulice Blaine Steele Bible; a sister, Unive Bible; and her son-in-law, James N. Cash.

Pallbearers will be Harold Redd, Dr. Alton Walker, Harold Crawford, Rev. John Biggs, Rev. Mark Maddox, Rev. Willie R. Scott, Rick Chavous, and William McKinney.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Kraig Wangsnes, Dr. William T. Neumann, Dawn, Peggy, Crystal, Marnisha, and all the medical personnel who assisted in the care of their loved one. God bless you.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 9, 2009 from 7:00PM until 9:00 PM at the funeral home. Friends may call the daughters residence.
