Varena Turner

d. July 1, 2017

Grovetown, GA – Varena Turner, 69, loving wife of 40 years to Dave Turner, and loving mother to Dana Turner, entered into rest on Saturday, July 1, 2017.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Platt’s Funeral Home Belair Rd. Chapel with Pastor Bobby Coleman officiating.

Rena was born in Lincolnton, GA to the late Claude and Helen Morrison. She was Co-owner of Turner’s Automotive with Dave for 37 years. Rena was a member of Cornerstone Fellowship Church, where she served as the Church Secretary. Few people walked this Earth and live every second of life as it was meant to be lived. Rena did that. She spent her time here spreading joy and happiness. Her smile lit up any room and her love of everyone was infectious. She was always helping somebody in some way, whether it be feeding them, comforting them, or making them laugh. She had a deep love for animals and rescued every one that she could – and they were drawn to her. It’s as if they could see the soul of this awesome human being and all the goodness that existed within her. Those of us that she touched know full well the goodness that rested within her, such that we were privileged to share life with her. She made us all better human beings by showing us how to live – live life the right way – with love, kindness and compassion for all. She may have left us, but her halo and wings remain yet with us all.

In addition to her husband and daughter, survivors include her stepdaughter, Tina Turner; stepson, Brad Turner; two step-granddaughters, Kayla Turner and Tharon Turner; great granddaughter Harlie Turner; nephew, John “Chip” Newsome (Alisa); niece, Teresa Massey (Bill); and countless friends that were her family as well.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the funeral home.

If so desired, memorials may be made to the PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease) Foundation, 1001 E. 101st Terrace, Suite 220, Kansas City, MO 64131.
