Sylvia Carter Meggs

Augusta, GA. --- Mrs. Sylvia Carter Meggs, 69, beloved wife of Mr. Sam G. Meggs, entered into rest on Monday, Febuary 1, 2010 at University Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at New Hope Worship Center with Pastor Rich Bowen officiating. Burial will follow in Bellevue Memorial Gardens.
A native of Augusta, GA. Mrs. Meggs graduated from Academy of Richmond County in 1958 and Eugene Taladge Memorial Hospital where she earned her degree as an Ex-Ray Tech. She worked for over 40 years for OBGYN Associates. Mrs. Meggs was a member of New Hope Worship Center. She was an avid Gardner and loved to decorate and shop.
Additional survivors include three sons, Carter Tyre of Augusta, GA., Michael Meggs(Dawn) of Grovetown, GA. and Tony Meggs(Beth) of Rockledge, FL.; two daughters, Carol Smith(Tommy) of Hartsville, SC. and Karen Jefferies(Terry) of Martinez, GA.; a brother, Harry Hayward Carter(Virginia) of Fredericksburg, VA.; numerous nieces and nephews and eight grandchildren. Mrs. Meggs was preceded in death by her brother, Emmett Benjamin carter, Jr. and her sister, Ophelia Carter Seago.
Active pallbearers will be Jim Dampier, Eryck Riddle, Dannie Leonard, Don Strenth, Michael Meggs and Terry Jefferies.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM
