Mr. Samuel W. Jefferies, beloved husband of the late Jewel Jefferies, entered into rest on Friday, September 9, 2011 at University Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 12, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Platt’s Belair Road Chapel. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Jefferies, a native of Atlanta, was a 25 year veteran of the United States military, first in the Navy, and then in the Army, before serving 25 years in the civil service. He served two tours of duty in Korea. He loved to fish and was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan.

He is survived by his sons, Anthony L. Jefferies and wife, Cherrell, and Terry L. Jefferies and wife, Karen, his daughters, Kelly Garrett and husband, James, and Lacey Matthews and fiancé, Danny Ford. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Christopher Jefferies, Joshua Jefferies, Julie Jefferies, Sage Jefferies and Sam Garrett, as well as his great grandchildren, August Jefferies, Mady Grace Irick and Jayden Jefferies. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jewel and his daughter, Lori Matthews.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Jefferies, Chuck Bissell, Chuck Pittman, John Conley, David Irick and Danny Ford. Honorary pallbearers will be Bruce Thompson, Bobby Thompson, Sam Garrett, Christopher Jefferies and Jerry Landrum.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, September, 11, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
