Evans, GA – LTC Russell T. Maddox, 78, husband of Annrose Maddox of 54 years, entered into rest on Friday, March 30, 2012.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM at the Bicentennial Chapel on Fort Gordon on Thursday, April 12, 2012.

Russell was born in Chester, PA and grew up in Crisfield, MD. He retired from the United States Army after 23 years of service. He was trained as a Green Beret and served as an original member of the elite 5th Special Forces, 173rd Airborne Brigade. Russell was a decorated war veteran having been awarded the Vietnam Gallantry Cross and the Bronze Star for combat heroism. He served oversees tours in Korea, Vietnam, and Thailand. Upon retiring from the military, he entered into a Civil Services career where he served as the Allied Training Officer, supporting foreign military personnel training at Fort Gordon, GA. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and self confessed “terrible golfer”.

In addition to his wife, survivors include one son, Jeffrey Maddox and wife Cindy of Augusta, one daughter, Kenda Rindt of Augusta, two grandchildren, Wesley Maddox of Augusta, and Charlotte Rindt of Augusta.
