Ross E. Vacekonis

Evans, GA – Ross E. Vacekonis, 17, entered into rest on Wednesday, February 22, 2012.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at Platt’s Funeral Home Belair Rd. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at Ramsey Funeral Home in Harbor Beach, MI.

Ross attended Evans High School and was a member of the Columbia County 4-H S.A.F.E Trap Shooting Club. He also lettered in swimming his freshman year. Ross loved to swim and worked as a lifeguard. He was known for his exceptional cooking skills and his red velvet cakes. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his parents, Michael and Brenda Vacekonis of Evans, GA, one sister, Stacey Vacekonis of Evans, GA, one brother, Richard Vacekonis of Bad Axe, MI, paternal grandmother, Moria “Molly” Vacekonis of Williamsburg, VA, maternal grandparents, Leonard and Delores Goniewicha of Harbor Beach, MI, aunts and uncles, Gerald Vacekonis of Williamsburg, VA, Lynn Beasley of Grovetown, GA, Susan and John Bird of Loganville, GA, Cindy Goniewicha of Harbor Beach, MI, Dennis and Vicky Kozfkay of Ruth, MI, Colleen Goniewicha of Harbor Beach, MI, Donna and Tony Lempert of Walled Lake, MI, and numerous cousins. Ross was preceded in death by his grandfather, the late Gerald Vacekonis.
