Robert Lovick Buddy Hendry

Evans, GA – Mr. Robert “Buddy” Lovick Hendry, 68, beloved husband of Phyllis Hennecy Hendry, was released to new life on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 12:40 PM.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at West Acres Baptist Church with Dr. John Bryan officiating. Interment with honors to follow in Bellevue Memorial Gardens.

Buddy Hendry was born in Lake Bird, Florida in 1943. Even as a small child, Buddy wanted to be a Florida State Trooper and that dream came true when he was 21 years old. He enjoyed 28 years as a Florida Trooper before retiring to move to Georgia. Buddy came to Georgia in 1993 to marry his love, Phyllis, and continued his law enforcement career with the Columbia County Board of Education. Buddy, as Director of School Safety of Columbia County Schools, has treasured each day in the school system. Buddy cherished his family and friends and lived his life in great faith in God. Buddy was a member of the American Association of State Troopers, Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police, and Martinez United Methodist Church. Buddy was an avid hunter and enjoyed his time with his hunting friends. Buddy never met a stranger in this life and has entered his new life with great anticipation.

In addition to his loving wife, Buddy is survived by his parents, Thomas and Pat Hendry of Odessa, FL; his children, Mark Hendry (Kendra) of Clover, SC, Jeff Hendry (Beth) of Brazelton, GA, Brian Hennecy (Deidre) of Spartanburg, SC, and Robin Price (Eddie) of Monroe, NC; his sisters, Joy Gonzalez (Anilo) of Odessa, FL, and Tommie Perkins (Lydon) of Tampa, FL; and by his grandchildren, Hayden, Haley Jake, and Beau Hendry, Elijah and Abbey Price, and Priscilla, Ester, and Lydia Hennecy.

Pallbearers will be the Columbia County Board of Education School Safety Officers.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening, March 12, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
