Robert C. Rev. Daniel

Rev. Robert C. Daniel, Sr., 96, a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, entered into rest Saturday, November 17, 2012 at his home. He deeply loved and appreciated his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of more than 71 years, Susie Shivers Daniel originally of Burke County, and their younger son, Jim Daniel and his wife Kay. Their older son Robert (Bob) C. Daniel, Jr. is deceased. Bob was married to the former Andrea Anderson of Appling, GA, and served 20 years as Richmond County Attorney from 1973 to 1993. Robert Daniel, Sr. is survived by four grandchildren; Susan Daniel Melchior, Carter Daniel, Rob Daniel, and Bert Daniel, who like his grandfather is a minster of the Gospel; seven great-grandchildren; Karis Melchior, Alissa Melchior, Sumner Daniel, Carswell Daniel, Cash Daniel, Noah Daniel, and Isaiah Daniel. Other immediate family members are his sister Pauline Tucker of Savannah, GA; and his deceased brother and sister; Carswell Daniel of Waynesboro, GA and Agnes Kirkendohl of Sylvania, GA.

Reverend Daniel was blessed to serve over 65 years in active ministry from 1940 to 2006 in the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA). A native of Waynesboro, GA, he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as His Savior in a March 1939 revival service with Vance Havner preaching at the First Baptist Church of Waynesboro. In February 1940, he felt and accepted the Holy Spirit’s call to enter the ministry. July 1940, he was ordained and began preaching in Burke County. Highlights of his ministry includee serving as Pastor of the Lincolnton Baptist Church from 1942 to 1950, the Crawford Avenue Baptist Church from 1950 to 1970, and the Lincolnton Baptist Church from 1970 to 1980. During 1981 to 2002, he began a 20-year period serving as interim pastor in 13 different CSRA churches, which included; Warren Baptist, Kiokee Baptist, Calvary Baptist, National Hills Baptist, and Lake Park Baptist. During his interim pastorates, God used his biblical preaching and wise counsel to faithfully lead these congregations through important seasons of transition. From 2003 to 2006, he continued to serve as a supply preacher in numerous CSRA churches. It is estimated during his active ministry of 65 years that he preached in well over 50 churches in the CSRA.

Funeral Services will be held in the Warren Baptist Church Chapel on Monday, November 19, 2012 at 2:30 PM. The family will receive friends in the Warren Baptist Chapel from 1:00 PM until service time; pictures of his family and ministry will be shown during visitation.

Pallbearers will be Harold Eubanks, Bubby Gardner, John Lanting, Lewis Muns, David Roper, Mike Sizemore, Jack Smalley, Terry Swearingen. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Baker, Rev. Roger Bennett, Robert Coursey, Don Grantham, Jimmy Hewett, Bill Hill, Terry Mullenix, Bob Parks, Olin Plunkett, Robert Pollard, Herman Thacker, Hillyer Wright Jr.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, may be made to Berea Baptist Church; 4408 Evans To Lock Road, STE H ; Evans, GA 30809 ; where his grandson is currently serving as a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
