Robert A. Boerckel

Augusta, GA---Mr. Robert A. Boerckel, 85, beloved husband of Sue Simmons Boerckel, entered into rest on Sunday, January 3, 2016.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 in the Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, on Wednesday from 2:00 pm until the time of services.
Mr. Boerckel was born May 12, 1930 in Whitestone, NY. He was the son of the late Ralph Lawrence Boerckel and Mildred Louise Hertel Boerckel and had one brother, Ralph Lawrence Boerckel, Jr., who also preceded him in death.
“Berk”, as he was known, was a member St. Mark United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Richmond Academy and attended Augusta College and served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Bell South after 43 years of service. He was an avid golfer, was a past president of the North Augusta Sertoma Club and was past president of Communication Workers of America.
In addition to his wife, to whom he was married for 65 years, he is survived by one son, Robert Lawrence “Larry” Boerckel and wife, Joan, one daughter, Dr. Susan Denise Boerckel, all of Augusta, GA, two grandsons, Robert Brandon Boerckel and Wilson Tyler Boerckel, both of Jackson, WY as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
