Richard “Dick” Harvey Lamb, 88, left the loving embrace of his family to be with his Lord and Savior on December 12, 2016.

A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, December 17, 2016, at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 2230 Walton Way, Augusta, Georgia with Rev. Robert D. Fain officiating. A private interment at Beaufort National Cemetery will be held.

Dick Lamb was the son of Paul and Ida Mae Lamb of Caney, Kansas. He was a career Army Infantry officer who served in Korea and Vietnam and retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. During a tour of duty in Thailand, he served as military liaison for the Bob Hope USO Tour. He was the recipient of a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart during his service. After retiring from the Army, Mr. Lamb was employed with the Augusta Chamber of Commerce, King Mill, and Castleberry Foods.

Mr. Lamb was actively involved in the treatment of substance abuse and was one of the founders of Hope House. He also frequently volunteered at Hale House for many years. Mr. Lamb loved sports, reading mystery novels, and was an avid Civil War history buff. He also enjoyed spending leisure time at the beach.

He is survived by his wife, Anne Marie Lamb; a son, Paul “Pete” Lamb (Brenda Johnson); a daughter, Patricia “Patti Ann” Smith; a step-daughter, Cindy Rondeau (Stace); nine grandchildren, Karen Hyatt (Gavin), Clayton Lamb, Greer Caldwell (Joe), Chelsea Smith (Travis), Tricia Smith, Allison Abraham (Vince), Katherine Keller (John), Paul Glaze, and Jean Pierre Rondeau; ten great-grandchildren, Baleigh, Brantley, Collins, Laine, Lawton, Eloise, Clara, Rowan, Lily, and Alyson; as well as a host of other friends and family members.

In lieu of flowers, if so desired, gifts may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
