Ray D. Newman, Jr.

Evans, GA – Ray D. Newman, Jr., husband of 27 years to Mary M. Newman, went to be with the Lord, on Monday, August 18, 2014.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Platt’s Funeral Home Belair Rd. Chapel. Burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park.

Ray was born in Augusta, GA and was very proud of where he was from. He had recently moved back home after living in Albany, GA for many years. Ray was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and was an avid Gamecock fan. He was an engineer and retired from Georgia Power. He was a member of Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, GA and The Experimental Pilots Club. Ray enjoyed exotic cars and spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, survivors include, two daughters; Tish Brittingham (Hoss) of Leesburg, GA, Renee Ruby (Eddie) of Duluth, GA, one sister; Doris Freeman of High Point, NC, two nephews; Ernie Freeman, Dr. Ray Freeman; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; and his two beloved poodles; Tux and Little Bit.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until time of service at the funeral home.
