Mr. Randall Kea Strozier, Jr.

Augusta, GA – Mr. Randall Kea Strozier, 72, beloved husband of Phyllis Hayes Strozier, entered into rest on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 12, 2011 at the Church of the Good Shepherd with the Right Reverend Robert D. Fain and the Rev. Dr. J. Andrew Menger officiating. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park.

A native of Augusta, GA, Randall was a noted junior and amateur golfer. He was a member of the Richmond Academy golf team that won 7 straight regional titles in the 1950’s. Among his many amateur titles, he was most proud of winning the Georgia State Amateur Championship in 1969. Randall graduated from Augusta College in 1959, where he and his teammates founded the first golf team.

He loved aviation and was an experienced and accomplished private pilot, holding instrument, multi-engine, and commercial ratings. Randall began his career in the golf car industry in 1961 with EZ GO. His career continued as one of the eight original owners of Club Car, where he continued to work until his retirement. He was a lifetime member of the Church of the Good Shepherd. He also belonged to the Birdie Club, the Augusta Country Club, and the Augusta Golf Association.

Along with his wife, Randall is survived by his two sons, Randall Kea Strozier, III of Atlanta, and Wade Howell Strozier of Atlanta and fiancé Amy Rae Johnson of Augusta; by his two daughters, Elizabeth Hayes Strozier of Augusta, and Emmie Strozier Ward and husband Dempsey Clay Ward of Augusta; by his brother, Robert Strozier and wife Cindy of Evans; and by his three grandchildren, Lindsey Madison Strozier, Emily Elizabeth Strozier, and Mary Dempsey Ward.

Randall was preceded in death by his parents, Randall Kea Strozier, Sr. and Elizabeth Ackerman Strozier.

Active pallbearers will be John Boone, Herman Brittingham, Dr. J.J. Carswell, David Duvall, Chris Gunnels, William Lanier, Jerry Matheis, Larry McCrary, Dr. Johnny Reynolds, Joe Sheehan, and Pat Timmerman.

Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Augusta Golf Association.

Active and honorary pallbearers are asked to assemble at the church by 10:30 AM.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening, September 11, 2011 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
