Evans, GA – Preston J.A. McDaniel, 68, loving husband of Jane N. McDaniel, entered into rest on Monday, April 21, 2014.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Warren Baptist Church Chapel. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens.

Preston lived in Augusta for over 50 years and was a member of Warren Baptist Church. He retired from the United States Army and was a proud veteran. Preston managed several different businesses during his career including National Welders, Industrial Welding, Averett Hardware, Bahama Joe’s, and Red Lobster. He also taught Welding and Horticulture at Augusta Technical College. Preston was a member of Columbia County Sheriffs Auxiliary, the Harlem Masonic Lodge, and was a Georgia Master Gardener.

In addition to his wife, survivors include five children; Andy McDaniel (Robin) of Huntersville, NC, Katie McGahee (Trey) of Summerville, SC, Scott McDaniel of Harlem, GA, Jason Knight (Darlene) of Jacksonville, FL, Jared Knight (Tracy) of Jacksonville, FL, two brothers; Pat McDaniel of Universal City, TX, Paul McDaniel of Swainsboro, GA , one sister; Brenda Rice of Martinez, GA, eleven grandchildren; Drew McDaniel, Gracie McDaniel, Ashlyn Smith, Noah McGahee, Brittany McGahee, Tyler McGahee, Addie McDaniel, Anna Lee McDaniel, Justin Knight, Jacob Knight, and Logan Knight.

Preston was preceded in death by his parents Preston and Brenda E. McDaniel of Harlem, GA.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 25, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
