Augusta, GA---Mr. Philip Frank Robinson, Jr., age 90, entered into rest on Friday, December 25, 2009. Mr. Robinson, beloved husband of 61 years to the late Clara Mathewson Robinson was a lifelong resident of Augusta.
A Memorial service will be held on Monday, December 28, 2009 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Richard Sanders officiating.
He was a graduate of the Academy of Richmond County and the University of North Carolina where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa and lettered in tennis.
Survivors include his daughter Elizabeth (Libba) Robinson Anderson, his son-in-law, Charles Joseph Anderson, and two grandsons and their wives ,Charles Joseph Anderson, Jr., his wife Suzanne Meadow Anderson, of Savannah,Ga and Philip Frank Robinson Anderson, and his wife Christine Gayle Anderson of Augusta. He is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren Henry,Frank,Hayden,and Charlie Anderson. Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lorene Robinson and his sister, Frances Robinson Merry. Mr. Robinson was much loved by his extended family which included many nieces and nephews , and his family at Kentwood.
Mr. Robinson founded Richmond Bonded Warehouse (now RBW Logistics) where he served as President until his retirement in 1979. Mr. Robinson was a very active member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church where he served, as a lay-reader, a Sunday School Teacher and was on the vestry. He was a member of many organizations including, The March of Dimes, which he founded in 1952,and served as chairman for 30 years, The Clinton Anderson Foundation, Rotary Club of Augusta, The Augusta Symphony, The Pinnacle Club, The Augusta Country Club.
