Miss Peggy Ann Barnes

Augusta, GA – Miss Peggy Ann Barnes, 68, entered into rest on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 8, 2011 at Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel with Rev. Hal Hodgens officiating. Interment to follow in Westview Cemetery.

Miss Barnes was born in Augusta to James Lester and Lena Gertrude Corley Barnes. She retired from the Richmond County Government where she served as Deputy Clerk with the Civil and Magistrate Courts. Miss Barnes was a lifelong member of Druid Park Bible Church and had recently been attending Marks Baptist Church. She will be remembered as a loving sister, aunt, and great aunt.

Miss Barnes is survived by her brother, David Gerald Barnes, Sr.; her sister, Linda Faye Barnes Bell; her nieces and nephews, Stephanie Bell Sealey (Andy), Richard Wesley Bell, III (Ree), Amelia Christine Barnes, David Gerald Barnes, Jr., and Mary Ashley Barnes; and by her great niece and nephew, Savannah Grace Sealey and Peyton Sealey.

Miss Barnes was preceded in death by her parents and also by her sister-in-law Autumn Christine “Sissy” Mitchell Barnes.

Pallbearers will be Dewey Jones, James Hodgens, Ray Barnes, Bill Sherman, Bobby Barnes, and Zakk Smallwood.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening, July 7, 2011 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
