Augusta, GA – Mrs. Peggy A. Martin, 87, entered into rest on Sunday, April 3, 2011 at University Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at the Church of the Good Shepherd with the Rev. Dr. J. Andrew Menger officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, April 5, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

Mrs. Martin was born in Delhi, LA to her parents, Ernest B. and Audrey Owen Arender. She was an active member of the Church of the Good Shepherd and a former member of St. David’s Episcopal Church in Louisiana. Mrs. Martin loved spending time with her family and also enjoyed playing bridge.

Mrs. Martin is survived by her daughters, Phoebe P. Rice of Augusta and Peggy P. Talley and husband Thomas of Houston, TX; by her four grandchildren, Phoebe A. Rice, J. Owen Rice, Liza A. Talley, and Alexandra W. Talley; by her great-grandson, Trezevant A. Rice; by her son-in-law, James D. Rice; and also by her extended family members.

Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her first husband, Gerald Wallace “Smokey” Prestridge; her second husband, Louis B. Martin; by her daughter, Pamela A. Prestridge; and by her grandson, Tyson Talley.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 9, 2011 in Delhi, LA Masonic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Cox Funeral Home in Delhi, LA on Friday evening, April 8, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
