Pam was a graduate of Tubman High School for girls in 1949, and also attended Augusta Jr College.
Pam was a well-known and respected media personality in Augusta. She was often referred to as the “first lady of radio” in Augusta. At the young age of 14, she co-hosted the afternoon “drive-time show” from the front yard of WBBQ Radio. Pam also co-hosted a show called “Pam and Paul Airborne Coffee Club” each weekday morning. She was also known affectionately as the “lil ole recipe lady” and published a cookbook with some of her favorite recipes for WBIA Radio. In addition to WBBQ and WBIA, she was also employed by WGAC Radio and WRDW Radio. There was a brief period during her professional career when she worked at the Augusta National, Masters Golf Tournament; and for the Utah Parks and Recreation Dept.
Pam was the “voice” of several local businesses such as Pollock Office Machines, Wifesaver Chicken, and Fitz-Simms Photography, among many others. She loved the advertising business, and in 1986 during the 11th annual “Addy” Award Celebration, she was given the prestigious Silver Medal Award by the Greater Augusta Advertising Federation; the highest honor bestowed to those in the industry.
Pam loved her family, her treasured friends, her profession, and her dog Barney. She loved to cook, and was an excellent cook. Her favorite place to spend leisure time was at the lake or the beach.
The family wishes to acknowledge gratitude and affection to Pam’s special friends and caregivers, Sidney Johnson and Elaine Young. Thank you for your loving care.
