Reverend Glover was born in Hartsville, SC. He was the son of the late Reverend Mortimer Worth Glover, Jr. and Gladys Eugenia Alexander. Reverend Glover is survived by his wife Eugenia Toole Glover of Augusta, GA; his sister Margaret Myers Ernest of Falls Church, VA; three brothers, Joseph Alexander Glover of Jackson, AL, Homer Butler Glover, and Irving Templeton Glover both of Wilmington, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Born in 1924, Reverend Glover spent his early life in Wilmington, NC where he graduated valedictorian of New Hanover High School. In 1945, he graduated from Princeton University with honors in Philosophy. Reverend Glover pursued graduate studies and entered the Virginia Seminary in Alexander, VA. In 1949, he graduated with a Master of Divinity Degree and was ordained. At 25, Reverend Glover was one of the youngest Episcopal priests ever ordained. After serving in several small parishes in North Carolina he became rector of The Church of The Good Shepherd in Ashboro. Reverend Glover later entered the General Theological Seminary in New York and earned an additional Masters Degree in Sacred Theology. During this time, he also served as assistant rector at St. John’s Church in Cold Spring Harbor, NY. In 1969, he served as assistant rector and was later promoted to associate rector at St. George’s for eight years. In late 1976, he became rector of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church at the Historic Restoration in New Harmony, Indiana. From there, Reverend Glover retired to Augusta in 1989 after 40 years of service. Even after retirement he was an active participant within the local community. He continued to perform mass and was frequent guest lecturer at many local churches.

Reverend Glover had a great love and appreciation of music and the arts. While in New York, he played string bass with the Doctors Orchestral Society. He also played for the Evansville Indiana Philharmonic. After retirement he joined the Augusta State University Orchestra.

Reverend Glover was a voracious reader and consummate scholar. This was expressed through his passion for iconography and its historical relevance. He enjoyed studying and reading about this subject in his many books. For years, Reverend Glover authored a weekly column in the Augusta Chronicle entitled “The Different Drummer”. He performed detailed scholarly studies of the use of poetry in the Bible and most importantly, the Benedictine Movement in England and Scotland. His achievements were many, however, some of his greatest pleasure came as participating member with the local Augusta Book Club. His wit, humor, and insights added a measure of delight at any encounter. He was an active member of several civic and community organizations and served as President of the Kiwanis Club of New Harmony, IN and the Evening Optimist Club in Augusta, Georgia. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Active pallbearers will be; William R. Toole, Donal Toole, Kevin Pollock, Bart Black, David Mullins, Richard Lewis, William H. Lowe, III, and Gary Whitford.
