Mildred Ann Payne Thompson

AUGUSTA, GA - Mrs. Mildred Ann Payne Thompson, wife of William Warren Thompson, entered into rest on Monday, November 18, 2013. She was born on February 25, 1933 in Ooltewah, Tennessee and is preceded in death by her father James Maples Payne and her mother Mildred Marie Bean Payne.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 22, 2013 at 11:00 am in Westover Memorial Park in Augusta, GA with Rev. H. Grady Moseley officiating.
Mildred Ann was a 1950 graduate of A. L. Miller High School in Macon, GA. She attended Mercer University for two years where she studied Biology. In 1952, Millie married her high school sweetheart, Bill Thompson. Through his service in the United States Air Force, Bill and Millie travelled throughout Europe. Her love for visiting foreign places never left her and through the years they travelled the world together.
In addition to her husband, Bill, Mildred Ann is survived by her sons William James Thompson and Alan Warren Thompson (Teresa); two grandsons, Andrew Payne Thompson and Robert Warren Thompson; granddaughter, Rowan Lindsay Thompson; sister, Barbara Johnson of Alexandria, VA; niece, Linda Flynn; great-niece Amber Flynn; and many more loving family members.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Thompson, Donnie Thompson, Charles Thompson, Steve Thompson, John D. Ray, Jr., Herb Ledbetter, Joel Conte, Mahi Majanavic, Randy McCullough and Frank Christian.
Those wishing to make a charitable contribution in Millie’s memory are invited to donate to the Masonic Children’s Home of Georgia (PO Box 4183 Macon, GA 31208).
