Augusta, GA---Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Havird Clouse, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, August 11, 2013.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at Westover Memorial Park with Reverend Dewey Jones officiating. The family will receive friends at the graveside, immediately following the service.
Mrs. Clouse was the daughter of the late Oliver John Havird and Kate Melissa Bradley Havird. She graduated from Moody Bible Institute, where she served as Assistant Dean of Women. She later earned her Bachelor’s degree from Grace College and Theological Seminary and her Master’s degree in Elementary Education from Indiana University. She retired as a second grade teacher, who was dearly loved by all of her “children”.
Mary’s greatest joy in life was her faith, her family and her friends. She was a member of the Bible Church of Augusta, where for many years, she taught Sunday School and Church School. Mary lived to glorify God.
Mrs. Clouse was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond E. Clouse, one brother, O. John Havird, Jr., six sisters, Dora H. Rivers, Vera H. Bennett, Katherine H. Jarrell, Leila Havird, Helen H. Bryant, Carolyn H. Usry and two nephews, J. Rogers Havird and J. Marvin Bryant III.
Survivors include, one brother, Cmdr. Lloyd B. Havird (Iris) of La Jolla, CA, one sister, Connie H. Skalak of Augusta, GA, seven nieces, Carol H. Winn, Kay J. Pair (Charles R.), Nancy J. Tumlin (Dr. William D.), Susan B. Cooper (Thomas O., Sr.), Janet U. Stuntz (Robert P., Jr.), Ann U. McRae (Robert M.) and Pamela E. Havird, eight nephews, W. Ed Havird (Susan), Ed O. Bryant, Sr. (Clara), Horace D. Usry (Georgia), Brad H. Usry (Paige), L. Brad Havird II (Tami), Col. Ley B. Havird (Jenn), Victor S. Skalak (Christy) and Meyer S. Skalak (Patricia), many loving great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews and numerous dear cousins.

The family is especially grateful to KeeKee Gilyard and the caring staff at Kentwood, for their compassionate, dedicated and loving care of Mrs. Clouse and their unwavering support of us, her family.
