Augusta, GA---Mrs. Martha McFerrin Green, 83, entered into rest on Saturday, Januray 2, 2016 at her daughter’s residence, in North Augusta, SC.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm tomorrow, Tuesday, January 5, 2016 in Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel with Reverend Joel Conner officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
Mrs. Green was a native of Augusta, GA. She was a charter member of National Hills Baptist Church, where she taught the Children’s Sunday School Class for 55 years. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Martinez Lodge. Mrs. Green loved designing clothes, sewing and doing handcrafts. She was eternally optimistic and constant in her faith and will be remembered by her family as a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.
Mrs. Green was preceded in death by her first husband, Bill McFerrin, second husband, Edward P. Green and two sons, William “Randy” McFerrin and Leslie “Les” Green.
She is survived by her daughters, Marsha A. Reese of Hephzibah, GA and Kathryn M. Bell (Roger) of North Augusta, SC, brother, Joel T. Conner (Vicki) of Tampa, FL, sister, Patsy Amerson of Augusta, GA, seven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Trinity Hospice of Aiken and her caregiver, Amanda Prescott, for the excellent care given to Mrs. Green.
The family will receive friends this evening, Monday, January 4, 2016 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Platt’s Crawford Avenue.
