Columbiana, OH - Margaret E. Trott, 94, peacefully left our world Monday morning at 3:55 AM in Columbiana, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 on Friday, March 1, 2013 at Platt’s Belair Road Chapel with Rev. Ron Jones officiating. Interment to follow in Bellevue Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
Margaret was born February 13, 1919 in Norfolk Virginia, where she still has a large extended family. She married LeRoy Trott on October 12, 1940, who preceded her in death in 1960. They raised three children (Sally Ann, deceased; LeRoy Jr., and Jeanne), while traveling to various military bases in the United States and Japan. When her husband retired in 1960, they made their permanent home in Augusta.
Margaret devoted much of her life in service to others. She was an active volunteer with the American Red Cross from 1945 until 2003. She worked as a Nurse’s Aide, Station Chairman, Chairman of Volunteers, Chairman of the Summer Youth Program and as Case Work Chairwoman at DDEAMC, Ft. Gordon, Georgia. She was presented the U.S. Army’s Commanders’ Award for Public Service, and the Red Cross’ Clara Barton Award for her dedication and leadership as a Volunteer.
She was a Sunday School Teacher in the preschool department at The Hill Baptist Church. She served two terms as president of both the WMU at The Hill Baptist Church and the Garden City Business and Professional Women’s Club. She retired from the Richmond County Board of Education, where she was secretary of the Media Center.
In addition to living in Japan for two and a half years, Margaret also visited Thailand, Switzerland, England, Scotland, and Saudi Arabia. An excellent cook, she ran a small catering business for a while, and was always hosting dinners at home or preparing meals for those in need.
She is survived by: her daughter, Jeanne Lee Trott Watson and son-in-law, Terry Watson; Her son, LeRoy F. Trott Jr. and daughter-in-law, Charlotte Trott; grandchildren Allen Lee, Jennifer Shar, Joshua Dexter, Jessica Wilson, Tracy Smith, and Annette Saylor; and twelve great-grandchildren.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Red Cross.
