Maner M.C. Poss

d. December 4, 2009

Mr. Maner C. “M. C.” Poss
Martinez, GA---Mr. Maner C. “M. C.” Poss, 82, went to his reward on Friday, December 4, 2009 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, December 7, 2009, in the Platt’s Belair Road Chapel with Reverend William F. Harrell officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
In 1927 was born a man of unusual character and moral strength. M. C. raised a family of two boys and one girl, with the help of a pretty country girl, named Bobbie. They raised their children in the shadow of church life and friends. Although never a wealthy man, M. C. worked two jobs most of his life and sometimes three. He was a deacon and treasurer of Glendale Baptist Church and later in life attended Abilene Baptist Church. Born in Union Point, Georgia into a family of ten, at the beginning of the depression, he learned a good work ethic early on. He served his country in the U.S. Army, near the end of WW II. He retired from the railroad after forty years and also enjoyed doing tax returns for friends, relatives and customers. M. C. enjoyed fishing but could hardly find a lot of time for it. After retirement, he was an avid league bowler and made many cherished friendships.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years, Barbara Poss, son, Brantley Poss, wife Mary and son Mark, son, Dennis Poss, late wife, Loretta and fiancé, Pat McCarthy, daughter, Jessica and husband Dustin Rentfro and son Stuart, daughter, Pam Poss, daughter, Brittany and husband Dax Cagle and granddaughter, Olivia, sister and only surviving sibling, Leila Davis Mapp and many nieces and nephews to cherish his memory. We will miss you Daddy.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 6, 2009, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, at Platt’s Belair Road.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Emory Sayers Sunday School Class.
If so desired memorials may be made to Abilene Baptist Church, Building Fund, 3917 Washington Road, Martinez, GA 30907 or Heartland Hospice, 1365 Interstate Parkway, Augusta, GA 30909.
