AUGUSTA- Mr. Luther Malcom Bohler entered into rest on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at University Hospital, following a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 1, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of Augusta with Dr. Greg DeLoach officiating. Burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park.

Mr. Bohler will be remembered as a devoted husband and father. He graduated from Lincolnton High School in 1950. A proficient machinist, he was employed for 36 years with International Paper. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Augusta, where he participated in Men on Missions, and was a member of the Margaret Parker “FAHOLO” Sunday school class. He led the singing and taught Sunday school for several years at Warren Baptist Church, where he met his beautiful bride, Joyce.

He is survived by his son, Peter Gentry Bohler and wife, Mary Beth, a daughter, Natasha Bohler-Butts and husband, William, his grandchildren, Seth Carson Bohler, Jackson Benjamin Bohler, Heather Elizabeth Butts and Kristin Leigh Butts. He was also survived by a brother and sister, Thomas Gordon Bohler and Dorothy Arlene Bohler. He was “Daddy Luther” to Helen Stallworth, Lucy Stallworth and Cameron Kerzic. His beloved wife of 50 years, Lillian Joyce Jackson Bohler, preceded him in death.

The family would like to issue a special thanks to Dr. Mac Andrew Bowman and his staff for 20 years of compassionate care, and to all his nurses and caregivers, Queenie Clark, Caroline Jones, Marie Jones, Shirley Madison, Eva Martin and Barbara Pinkney, for their devotion and care the last six months.

Pallbearers will be Anthony Lovett, Dr. Clay Stallworth, Dr. Ivy L. Shuman, Rob Bohler, Bob Bohler, and Cameron Kerzic. Honorary pallbearers will be Theodore Webb, Harold Huffman, Richard Goley, Harold Futch, Charlie Lovett, Gene Brown, Pete Reynolds and Dobie Foushee.

Flowers will be accepted, however for those desiring, the family suggests donations be made to the American Heart Association, 1105-D Fury’s Lane, Augusta, Georgia, 30907.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening, September 30, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
