Ludelle Langham Wheeler

EVANS, GA- Ms. Ludelle L. Wheeler, 76, widow of Joseph W. Wheeler, Jr., passed away at home on September 2, 2012, after a brief illness.
Ludelle was born on February 11, 1936, in Thomson, GA, the third child of Joseph Carter Langham and Ruby Blanchard Langham. Ms. Wheeler graduated from Thomson High School in 1954. She graduated from Georgia Teacher’s College in 1958 with a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She later earned a Master’s degree in 1978 from Georgia Southern University and a Specialist in Education degree from Augusta College in 1990. She began her career as a teacher in Columbia County School System in 1963 and retired in 1993 as an administrator. Ms. Wheeler was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Phi Delta Kappa sorority, Friends of the Columbia County Libraries, and both the Augusta and Georgia Genealogical Societies. She is remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, generous benefactor as well as a trusted and faithful friend.
Ms. Wheeler is survived by her two children, Joseph W. Wheeler III and wife, Andrea Curry Wheeler, of Evans, and Jennifer Wheeler Thaxton and husband, Arthur Ronald Thaxton, of North Augusta, S.C., and grandchildren, Matthew Graham Wheeler, Amanda Langham Wheeler and Joshua Owen Thaxton. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Shirley Langham, of Stapleton, GA.
Ms. Wheeler was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sister Dorothy Moline and brother Bobby Langham.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, September 3, 2012 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM. on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Wesley United Methodist Church.
A private interment will be held at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens in Thomson, GA.
