GROVETOWN, GA - Mr. Louis Lofton Newman, 89, beloved husband of Mrs. Eunice Lewis Newman entered into rest on December 4, 2008 at University Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 7, 2008 at the Greater Augusta Apostolic Church at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Terry Newsome officiating. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Newman had retired from the Veterans Administration Medical Center after twenty nine years. He was a Deacon at the Greater Augusta Apostolic Church for over sixty years. He loved camping in his motor home, he was a member of the Goods Sam Camping Club and was a past president of the local chapter.

Survivors include, one son, Leonard Ralph Newman and his wife Joyce of Grovetown, one daughter, Elizabeth Newman Claxton and her husband Zack of Grovetown. Grandchildren, Laura Northcraft (Steve), Julie Barden ( Richard) Teresa Neal ( Ashley), Debra Stelle, Tammy Baker ( Rodney) ,John Claxton( Sarah). Fourteen great grandchildren. Sisters, Louise Coffee, Viola Davis ( Rufus) Francis Davis( Teat) and Lena Gilbert (Kyle). Mr. Newman was preceded in death by his parents, Joe B. and Laura Ann Newman, one sister, Susie Cribbs, Brothers, Russell Newman, and Jack Newman.

Pallbearers will be, Ashley Neal, Rodney Baker, Ryan Baker, Mike Holden, Corey Mullins, Maurice Levesque. Honorary pallbearers will be T.J. Maulbeck, Larry Mazyck, Jim Hopson.

Mr. Newman will lie-in-state at the church from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m.

The family will receive friends Saturday, December 6, 2008 at the funeral home from 6: 00 until 8:00 p.m.
