Augusta, GA – Louis F. Servant went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at Doctors Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 17, 2010 at Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel with Rev. Larry Harmon officiating. Interment will be private.
Mr. Servant was born on March 1, 1924 in Columbus, GA to Hannah and Louis Servant, Sr. He was a lifelong resident of Augusta. Mr. Servant served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. After his discharge in 1947, he went to work for the US Postal Service from which he retired in 1984. He served many years on the Board of Directors of the CSRA Federal Credit Union. Louis and his wife Emma have been faithful members of Crawford Avenue Baptist Church for over 50 years where he served as a Sunday School teacher, deacon, finance committee member, and many other areas of service. He was honored with the title of “Deacon Emeritus”.
Louis never met a stranger and had a big smile and funny comment for everyone he encountered. If you asked him in recent years how he was doing he would say “I’m outrunning the undertaker”. He finally quit running!
Mr. Servant is survived by his wife, Emma Ackles Mrok Servant; his daughter, Marion Mrok Williams (Howard) of Evans, GA; his son, Ed Mrok (Carolyn) of Germantown, TN; his seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
The family wishes to express deep gratitude to his caregiver, Yakita Tutt, for the loving and tender care she gave him.
If so desired memorials may be made to Crawford Avenue Baptist Church, 507 Crawford Avenue, Augusta, GA 30904.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday morning from 10:00 until service time.
