AUGUSTA, GA - Lillian Blanchard Dunstan, aged 90, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 15, 2012. Mrs. Dunstan entered into rest at her residence surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bernard Samuel Dunstan, Sr., and son, James Richard Dunstan.

Mrs. Dunstan was the daughter of the late Dr. Pierce Gordon Blanchard and Moralle Ramsey Blanchard of Leah, Georgia. She was educated in the Columbia County School System and went on to graduate from The Barrett School of Nursing, University Hospital in Augusta. Upon graduation she was commissioned by the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of Captain. For her service she was awarded the WWII Victory Medal and the American Campaign Medal. Her compassion and love for others was exemplified through her long career as a registered nurse in the Coronary Care Unit at Oliver General Veteran’s Hospital.

Mrs. Dunstan was a member of The University Hospital Nurse's Alumnae and volunteered tirelessly at Whole Life Ministries, where she was a member for 29 years.

Mrs. Dunstan is survived by her son, Bernard Samuel Dunstan, Jr. (Ginny); daughters, Dorothy Dunstan Mooney, Mary (Connie) Dunstan Snead, Elizabeth (Lisa) Dunstan Murray (Jay); daughter-in-law, Margaret D. Dunstan; grandchildren, Bernard Dunstan III, Day Harrison, Richard Dunstan, Jr., Charles Dunstan, Miles Dunstan, Maggie Dunstan, Bill Mooney, Steven Mooney, Jon David Mooney, Mary Hall, Arthur Snead, Samantha Stantz, John Murray IV, Wilkes Murray, and Richard Murray; great-grandchildren, Lillian Harrison, Pierce Harrison, Wills Mooney, Eli Hall, Eliza Hall, and Samuel Hall. She is also survived by three sisters, Louise Bennett, Carole Davis, and Violet Sparks.

Lillian, lovingly known as “Lil”, devoted her life to serving God and her family. Known as "Nanny" to her grandchildren, she had a special relationship with each of them. She reached out to everyone she met and was loved by all who knew her. She will be remembered as an amazing person of faith and a powerful prayer warrior.

The celebration of her life will be held at Whole Life Ministries, 2621 Washington Road, Thursday, May 17, at 11:00 a.m., with Dr. Sandra G. Kennedy officiating. Her grandsons will serve as Pallbearers.
