Kay Richardson

– Kay Richardson, beloved wife and mother, went to be with her Savior on Saturday, February 16, 2013.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at St. Mark United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Broome officiating.

Kay was born and raised in Dayton, OH. She received her BA in education from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1951. She met and married George Mason Richardson, Jr. in 1954. She taught English in Fulton County from 1953 to 1956. She raised a family while earning a degree in Library Education from Augusta College. She also earned two Graduate Degrees in Library Education from the University of Georgia. She worked in Richmond County schools for more than 20 years, retiring as Librarian from Monte Sano School in 1993. For many years, Kay was a member of the Rho Chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma educational sorority. She was a strong Christian, long time member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, and had a most wonderfully captivating smile.

Survivors include her husband, George Mason Richardson, Jr. of Evans, GA, two sons, Mason Neil Richardson (Traci) of Evans, GA, Randy Richardson (Debbie) of Leesburg, VA, one daughter, Lynn Richardson Vetter (John) of Spring Hill, TN, six grandchildren, Jordan Marie Richardson, Daniel Mason Vetter, Galey Garner Richardson, George Mason Richardson, III, Skyla Joy Richardson, and Austin Randall Richardson. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Joshua Mason Richardson.
