Juliette Mcdaniel Oliphant

July 30, 1913 — October 30, 2008

Augusta, GA - Juliette McDaniel Oliphant, born July 30, 1913 in Edgefield County, SC, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, October 30. She was predeceased in death by her husband Fred Gilbert Oliphant, her parents, Mary Ann and Winchester McDaniel, and infant son Thomas Winchester Oliphant. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Oliphant Baggs and her husband, William Hunter Baggs, Jr.; two grandchildren Juliette Ann Baggs Boardman and her husband, John Dickey Boardman, Jr. and grandson, William Hunter Baggs, III and his wife, Elizabeth Sellers Baggs, four great grandchildren Marianna Dixon Williams, Michael Clark Williams, Jr., William Hunter Baggs, IV, and Charles Harrison Baggs. She was the last of 18 siblings and blessed with many nieces and nephews.

She brought her family and friends much joy with her beautiful smile, sense of humor and wisdom. She was a member of the Hill Baptist Church and had a deep living faith in her Lord. One of her gifts was her exceptional talent playing the piano. She played until the end of her life entertaining friends and family as well as her beloved Kentwood family. We would like to recognize the staff of Kentwood Nursing Facility as they were not only beautiful caretakers but also, over the past eight years, became beautiful friends and her adopted family. For these wonderful people we thank God.

Private burial will be held on Sunday afternoon and services conducted by her great nephew, The Rev. John Richard West, Jr. from Richmond, VA.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heritage Academy, 333 Greene Street, Augusta, Georgia 30901 or to Kentwood through the Joseph D. Lee M.D., endowment in care of University Health Care Foundation, 2100 Central Avenue, Suite D1, Augusta, Georgia 30904.
