Augusta, GA-Julian Ashton Lively went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 16, 2009.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 20, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Platt’s Belair Road Chapel with the Rev. Bob Gosey and the Rev. Robert Riley officiating. Interment will follow at 1:00 PM at Botsford Baptist Church Cemetery, Waynesboro, Georgia.
He was a member of Lake Park Baptist Church where he was Deacon Emeritus. He leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Elizabeth (Liz) Lively. He is survived by four sons, Julian A. Lively, II (Betty), Mike Lively (Susan), Russell Lively (Tonya), Douglas Lively (Donna), and two daughters, Jane Lively and Julie Lively Bedgood (Scott). He also leaves behind 15 grandchildren, Jada Lively Todd (William), Julian Ashton Lively III (Allison), Jennifer Lively Blankenship (Brandon), Zachary Lively (Karissa), Andrew Lively, Robert Lively, Cindy Lively, Alexander Lively, Will Lively, Lizzie Lively, Taylor Lively, Ashlyn Bedgood, Caleb Lively, Kendall Lively, Pierce Lively; and 3 great- grandchildren, Wyatt Blankenship, Rhett Blankenship and Victoria Pearson. He is predeceased by his father, Ashton Alexander Lively, mother, Stella Lively, sister, Annie Lee Brown, and granddaughter, Abbi Lively.
Mr. Lively was born in Burke County, Georgia on March 5, 1933 and moved to Augusta in 1954. He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1950-1954 and as active reserve from 1954-1958.
Mr. Lively served on the Richmond County Board of Education from 1966 through 1974. He retired in 1995 as Vice President and General Manager of Boardman Oil Company after 30 years of service. He served on the Georgia Baptist Association Disaster Relief Team. He was a member of the Gideon’s International of Waynesboro, Ga. He was a life member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans Brig. General John C. Carter Camp, Waynesboro, GA.
It was important to him to be a witness for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He ministered through the Julian Lively Sunday School class and served in various roles of leadership at Lake Park Baptist Church and the Augusta Area Association of Baptist Churches.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 19, 2009, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, at Platt’s Belair Road.
Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Julian Lively Sunday School class.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gideon’s International Waynesboro Camp, P. O. Box 1390, Waynesboro, GA 30830 or the Future Growth Fund of Lake Park Baptist Church, 211 Milledge Rd., Augusta, GA 30904.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Michael Shlaer and his staff; also, Trinity Hospice for their care and compassion.
