Augusta, GA – Mrs. Joyce “Jo” Ann (Roth) Smith, 68, beloved wife of the late Major (Retired) Robert Eugene Smith, entered into rest on Tuesday, March 9, 2010. She was the daughter of Robert and Ruby (Pressley) Roth, both deceased, of Knoxville, Tennessee. She enjoyed serving alongside her husband for twenty-five years of military service and twenty years of Post Office service. Mrs. Smith retired from Maxwell House Pharmacy after over twenty years of employment.
Survivors include her three daughters, Deborah Mosley (and Grady) of Lawrenceville, Georgia; Teresa Thompson (and Alan) of Augusta, Georgia; Angela Smith of Grovetown, Georgia; her beloved grandchildren, Brooks Mosley, Payne Thompson, Trey Mosley, Rob Thompson, and Paul Dana Mosley; her sisters Liz Locke and Connie Bowling of Knoxville, Tennessee, and her brothers Robert Roth of Dothan, Alabama, and Harrison Roth of Knoxville, Tennessee; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; a child, David Randall; two brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 13, 2010, in the Platt’s North Belair Road Chapel, with Reverend Henry Grady Mosley, II, officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Friday, March 12, 2010, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Mrs. Smith’s grandchildren and Adam Witter, fiancé of Brooks Mosley.
