Augusta, GA---Mr. John Edward Tabb, 85, of Augusta entered into rest on June 25, 2011 at University Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at Lakemont Presbyterian Church, 1000 Bluebird Rd, Augusta, GA with Reverend Noah Kiser and Mr. James H. Sikes officiating.
Interment services will be private.
He leaves behind his wife of 61 years, Billie S. Tabb and a daughter, Melissa Burbine (Ray).
He was predeceased by his son, John Samuel. Tabb II and his parents, John Samuel Tabb and Mary B. Tabb.
Other survivors include, Brian Dillon Tabb, Steven Blasko, grandsons, Tammy Blasko, former daughter in law, along with Michelle Lancaster, Christina Maroney, Candace Whitaker granddaughters and four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Tabb entered the business world in 1954 as an insurance agent. He excelled in his career winning many sales and service awards. He believed in knowledge and earned his CLU, CHFC and MSFS, becoming one of the most knowledgeable persons in the State of Georgia in insurance and financial planning. He was always willing to share his knowledge and wisdom with his fellow peers.
He believed in giving back to his profession and served faithfully for over 50 years in the Augusta Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. He served as President of the Augusta Association and later became President of the Georgia State Association.
The Augusta Association created an annual award in his honor “The John E. Tabb”. This award is given each year recognizing the most outstanding member of the association.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, June 26, 2011 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, at Platt’s Crawford Avenue.
Memorials may be given to Lakemont Presbyterian Church, 1000 Bluebird Rd, Augusta, GA 30904, for “The John E. Tabb Scholarship Fund”.
