Savannah, GA---Mr. John Dawson Sancken, 26, entered into rest on Sunday, May 3, 2009, in Augusta, GA.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2009, at 11:00 am in the Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel with The Very Reverend Robert D. Fain and Reverend Randy Monk officiating. Interment will be private.
John had been a resident, of Savannah for eight years, formerly of Augusta. He was a 2001 graduate of Lakeside High School and a 2005 graduate of Savannah College of Art and Design. He was employed by The Print Shop, in Savannah, GA. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan. John was a blessing, to his family and all who knew him. His quick wit and sense of humor will always be remembered.
John was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, George A. Sancken, Jr. and Ullainee Drawdy Sancken.
Survivors include his father and step-mother, George A. Sancken III and Joyce E. Sancken, his mother and step-father, Julie M. Sancken and James I. Webb, all of Augusta, his brother, George Justin Sancken, of Augusta, his sisters, Kristin Drawdy Sancken, Sarah Elizabeth Sancken, both of Augusta and Cheryl Amanda Webb, of Jacksonville, FL, his maternal grandparents, Julian Miller, Lt. Col. Retired, of Corbin, KY and Nancy Dawson Miller, of Evans, GA and his uncle, Stephen Porter Miller, of Glenwood Springs, CO.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at Platt’s Crawford Avenue.
Pallbearers will be William Thomas Walsh, Jr., Timothy Wiggins, Eric Filas, Davis Auld, Burl Denton, Matthew Kareis and Marion Russell Moody. His brother, George Justin Sancken will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
Memorials may be made, to The University of Georgia Foundation for General Football Fund, P. O. Box 1472, Athens, GA 30603 or to the Charity of choice.
