Jeffery Jeff Stafford

Augusta, GA – Mr. Jeffery “Jeff” Chandler Stafford was born on January 29, 1964 and entered into rest on Tuesday, August 12, 2014.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at St. John United Methodist Church with Rev Gary Demore and Rev. Chuck Moon officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 PM in Coleman Chapel UMC Cemetery in Wadley, GA.

Jeff was a native of Emanuel County, GA and was a 1982 graduate of Swainsboro High School. Following a career in the 1980’s-90’s with Piedmont Airlines in Washington, D.C. and Orlando, FL, Jeff spent many successful years in the field of real estate. In recent years Jeff had been employed with the Hale Foundation in Augusta. A place he credits with not only “saving his life, but giving him life”. Jeff always said the greatest reward of the job was the privilege of witnessing the miracle of recovery in the lives of others.

Jeff was actively involved with the program and fellowship of AA. He was a loyal member of The Hill Group in Augusta. Another love for him was his membership and family at St. John UMC in Augusta where in 2012 he became a certified lay speaker which he said gave him yet another opportunity to “share the good news”.

Jeff is survived by his parents, Janice and Walter Smith of Wadley, GA; his brother, Brian Smith (Raven) of Tennille, GA; his sisters, Teresa Stafford Weathers (Joe) and Diane Stafford Combe (Bobby); and by his nephews Colton and Brody, his nieces, extended family, and many friends.

Active Pallbearers will be Joe Ward, Cliff Richards, Ronny Bonner, Mike Stafford, Mitch Stafford, Rocky Gilmore, Stoney Gilmore, and George Harrison.

Honorary Pallbearers will be The Residents and Alumni of the Hale Foundation.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening August 15, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.
