James Wylie Swain, Jr

Martinez, GA – James W. Swain, Jr., 80, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,on Tuesday, November 22, 2011.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 on Friday, November 25, 2011 at Martinez Baptist Church with
Rev. Phillip Winsett officiating. Burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park.

Mr. Swain was a charter member of Martinez Baptist Church and also served as a Deacon. He Loved his Lord and his church. Mr. Swain loved to travel and had a great sense of humor. He loved spending time with his family and especially enjoyed his trips with his family to Myrtle Beach. He served in the Air Force in the Korean Conflict and retired from E.I. DuPont after 34 years of service, in Health Physics at the Savannah River Plant.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Jennie Swain, four children, Kay Swain Walters and husband Dr. Les Walters of Augusta, Mike Swain and wife Lynne Swain of Evans, Mark Swain and wife Phyllis Love Hewett Swain of Evans and Nancy Swain Garrett and husband Michael Garrett of Grovetown. One sister, Patricia Swain Costen of Appling, Nine grandchildren, Ashley Walters of Washington, DC, Jordan Walters (Mary Grace) of Winston-Salem, NC, Christopher Swain (Ashley) of Lincolnton, GA, Chandler Swain, Phillip Swain and Brett Swain of Evans, GA, Abbie Garrett, Laura Garrett and Erin Garrett of Grovetown, GA.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Swain, Chandler Swain, Phillip Swain, Brett Swain, Jordan Walters, Les Walters and Mike Garrett. Honorary pallbearers will be his Sunday School Class.

The family will receive friends from 1pm until 3pm on Friday, November 25th at the church before the service.
