James W. Cadle, Sr.

Mr. James Wesley “Jim” Cadle Sr., 77, died November 15, 2008 at his home after an extended and courageous battle with cancer.
Jim was born November 29, 1930 in Augusta, Georgia. He was the son of the late William Jennings and Robbie Byrd Cadle. He was a graduate of Richmond Academy class of 1950 and was a US Air Force veteran having served during the Korean Conflict from 1951 until 1955.
After serving his country Jim returned to Augusta where he worked for the National Life Insurance Co. and Southern Road Builders. In 1959 he opened his first service station. This career endured for thirty years, he then opened Twin Pigs Bar-B-Que in 1989 retiring from business in 1992.
Jim was a member of the Methodist church and was a member and 32nd degree mason of the Martinez Masonic Lodge #710. He was a past President of the Martinez Lions Club.
Jim is survived by Rhetta, his wife of 54 years, a son James Wesley Cadle Jr. and his partner Ransom Snellings; daughters Lynn Wilson and her husband Tim Wilson, and Suzanne Hamilton; four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; first cousins Ben Byrd and his wife Rose, James Byrd and his wife Nancy, Peggy Byrd Dees and her husband Bill, Virginia Landrum and her husband George, and friend Bobby Hamilton.
Mr. Cadle was preceded in death by his brother Robert Brooker Cadle.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 18th at 3 o’clock PM at the River Island Pavilion, 1570 River Island Parkway, Martinez, Ga. 30907. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the adjoining lodge. Honorary pallbearers; Ben Byrd, James Byrd, Roy Davidson, and Johnny Conder.
The family requests Memorials be made to the American Cancer Society 2607 Commons Blvd, Augusta, Georgia 30904.
