Mr. J. Merle Bennett

Augusta, GA - James Merle Bennett, 71 years old, of Wilmington, Illinois, went to his heavenly home on October 31, 2010 at Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia.
Memorial services will be held at First Assembly of God on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at 4:00pm with Pastor Baxter Stanley officiating. Visitation will be held prior from 2:00pm - 4:00pm.
Merle was born to Reba Vivian and Emory Ell Bennett on June 22, 1939. He served in the U.S. Army military police from 1960- 1964. He worked as a pipe fitter and insulator after his military service. He married Rosamond Bennett on April 9, 1995 in Augusta, Georgia.
He is survived by his wife Rosamond Bennett, sisters Jennifer Olson and husband Steve, Gail Blessing and her husband John, brother Paul Bennett and wife Marion, brother-in law Elmer Ryman, stepdaughter Heather Olson and her husband Douglas, sons Matthew and Mark Bennett, grandson Tristan Schlagenhauser, and his beloved dog Astor.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Betty Jean Ryman.
The family would like to extend thanks for the support from family, friends, and the staff at Eisenhower Army Medical Center, SICU, and his church that he so loved.
