James Edward Hair

Grovetown, GA – James Edward Hair, 93, husband of the late Louise Whitaker Hair, the love of his life, entered into rest on Sunday, March 25, 2018.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Eddie Bradford and Rev. Beth Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

James was born and raised in the Augusta area. His father passed away at an early age and James took on the responsibility of working on the family’s dairy farm. James was a jack of all trades and could fix anything. Later, he worked for Georgia Railroad as a car inspector and retired after 39 years. James was a member of Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church and had been since the age of three, making him a member for 90 years. He was very involved in the church and was there anytime something needed to be done. He was on several committees and was the Chairman of the Trustees for many years. James loved serving and helping others.

Survivors include his son; Gene Hair of Grovetown, GA, daughter; Jeanette Walden (Wade) of Milledgeville, GA, two foster sons; Ricky Wagner of Grovetown, GA, Billy Wooten of Augusta, GA, brother; Robert Hair of Grovetown, GA, five grandchildren; Eddie Walden (Donna), Tammy Pennington (Jackie), Gina Taylor (Wesley), Janet Bruyninckx (Joey), Jon Hair (Whitney), and 12 great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, James was preceded in death by his brother; Earl Hair, and daughter-in-law; Linda Hair.

Pallbearers will be EJ Walden, Kyle Pennington, Tanner Bruyninckx, Trent Bruyninckx, Hunter Taylor, and Jon Hair.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at the funeral home.
