Henry Grady Welch

Evans, GA – Henry Grady Welch, 91, entered into rest on Tuesday, January 20, 2015.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Warren Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. David H. McKinley officiating. The family will receive friends at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Henry was born October 25, 1923 in Greenwood, SC and spent most of his life in Augusta, GA. He attended Academy of Richmond County and was a veteran of the United States Army where he served in Europe during World War II. He was a Master Carpenter and retired from University Hospital as Construction Manager. He was a member of Warren Baptist Church.

Henry and Gloria Heard were married on September 5, 1943 in Augusta. He and Gloria were loving parents to Vicki and Jan, and their husbands, Spencer and Rich. Henry enjoyed fishing, golf, and traveling with Gloria. He most enjoyed spending time with his family, especially as it grew with the addition of three grandsons, Adam, Daniel, and Micah, their spouses and children.

He is survived by daughters Vicki (Spencer) Beckum, Lincolnton, GA, Jan (Rich) Mandes, Birmingham, AL; grandsons Adam (Nicole) Beckum and Daniel (Kassie) Beckum, Evans, GA and Micah Mandes, Birmingham, AL; great-grandsons Kyle, Elijah, Landen, and Kallen Grady due in May; sisters Mae (John) Roberts, Chapin, SC, Faye Hayden, Appling, and brother-in-law Loyd Jensen, Houston, TX; sisters-in-law Doris Heard and Martha Heard, both of Augusta, and Christine Whitehead, Stone Mountain.
