Helen Simons Maddox

Augusta, GA – Mrs. Helen Simons Maddox, 84, beloved wife of Willie Lee “Bill” Maddox, entered into rest on Monday, June 09, 2014 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel with Dr. Kevin Steele officiating. Interment to follow in West View Cemetery.

Mrs. Maddox was born in Augusta to the late Willie T. and Annie Bell Grizzard Simons. She was married to her husband Bill for 67 years. Mrs. Maddox was a member of Central Christian Church for more than 50 years before joining National Hills Baptist.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Maddox is survived by her son, Rocky Maddox (Faye); her brother, Bobby Simons; her granddaughters, Traci Thigpen (Craig) and Nicole Hinds; and by her great-grandchildren, Kayla Hinds, Jacob Thigpen, and Phoebe Thigpen. She was preceded in death by her babies, Phillip Dean Maddox and Annette R. Maddox; her brother, Bennie Frank Simons; and by her sisters, Frances Hughes, Willie Mae Burris, Louise Van Buren, and Betty Hughes.

Pallbearers will be Lee Van Buren, Craig Thigpen, Harry Moore, Tommy Moore, Sam Simons, and Robert Partain.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, June 11, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
