Grovetown – Master Sgt. Harold Barnet Lewis, 84, beloved husband of Frances Steuernagel Lewis, entered into rest on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at Doctor’s Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church with Monsignor Gerald Lewis and the Rev. Michael Ingram officiating. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens.

MSG. Lewis was retired from the United States Army after 21 years, as well as serving over 30 years with the Martinez Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the Elks Lodge 205, American Legion Post 192, and the VFW. He was also a parishioner at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church as well as a volunteer at the Fisher House on Fort Gordon.

In addition to his wife, Frances, he is survived by his son; John Lewis, his daughter; Bonnie Richey (Jimmy), and his step children that he loved like his own; Susan Tanner Michaels, Tony Tanner, Robbie Tanner, Glen Tanner, Robert Holley, Sherri Clanton and Alicia Addenbrook. He was also survived by his brothers; Monsignor Gerald L. Lewis and Ray M. Lewis, a sister; Emily Helton, his grandchildren; Andrea Borden (Richard), Jonathan Newman (Julie), Amanda Hunt (Nathan), Tori Lewis, Austin Lewis and Jason Lewis, as well as numerous step grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a special foster daughter, Paige Cummings. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Ann Harper and his brother, John William Lewis.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Newman, Richard Borden, Aaron, Chris and Blake Michaels, and Austin Lewis. The Columbia County Fire Department and the Elks Lodge will act as honorary pallbearers.

I f so desired, memorials may be made to St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church Building Fund, 4921 Columbia Road, Grovetown, Ga, 30813 or to the Elks Children’s Center, 2394 Morrison Road, Conyers, Ga, 30094.

The family will receive friends on Monday evening, October 6, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
